Shot underneath a sandstone overhang looking at a "gloryhole" as some call it. The round opening in the rock ceiling was caused by water erosion over the course of many many years. Behind me, numerous trickles of water seeped from between cracks in the wall, constantly reshaping and reforming the rock structure. One of these flows can be seen in the immediate foreground. The water pouring in through the hole created an amazing sound as it echoed off the surrounding walls. I ended up spending about 45 minutes in this location, shooting many different angles.
The whole time, I was pondering how long it took not only to create the hole but also to create that entire area? How many various nomadic peoples have been in the exact same spot as I? What did it look like 10, 20,000 years ago?
For those of you who believe that our Earth is only 3,000 years old, please do yourself a favor and go take a hike.
