I ventured out to Busch Wildlife yesterday to enjoy the last part of my day off by going out and continuing my photo project with the area. I normally focus on the lakes but quite a few people were out fishing so I looked towards the land.
As I glance through photos here on Deviant, I'm shown bright green rolling hills covered in golden light, majestic alpenglow, and torrential mountainside waterfalls and cascades. It gives me great inspiration to get out and shoot until I realize the limitations of Missouri's topography. Varying my shots in this conservation area can get frustrating, causing me to become bored with shooting it. So I took some so-so shots for an hour or so, let the light trail off, got in my truck and left.
I came home and uploaded the pictures and while waiting, poked around on facebook. Moose Peterson had just posted a photo with the caption, "What all photographers should keep in mind", and it was a quote by Norman Rockwell. Little did I know, it was exactly what I needed to reinvigorate my conviction for photography no matter the place I am shooting.
"Commonplaces never become tiresome. It is we who become tired when we cease to be curious and appreciative. We find that it is not a new scene which is needed, but a new viewpoint." - Norman Rockwell
Re the quote Brad - I've just finished a book about Teamasters and Zen. There is a lovely phrase in it that says: " there is perfection everywhere - you just have to look." Oh and the photo's not bad either!
It sure would be sweet to have the endless fund$ to travel around the globe and shoot new and fresh places to your hearts content but for sure that`s a limitation 99.9% of the population have to live with. The colours and the sky are peachy here Brad, keep on clickin Pal!
